It is with deep regret that we announce the passing Alexander "Al" Grant; 35 year active firefighter, Secretary and beloved member of the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Department. The members of the Potsdam Volunteer Fire Dept. extend their condolences to his wife Sue and the Grant family.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday December 29, 2011 from 3:00 - 6:00 PM at the Garner Funeral Home with the funeral immediately following.

Al first joined the Potsdam FD in 1968 and served for 2 years before having to leave the Dept. due to work obligations. He rejoined the department in November of 1978 and has been active since that time. Al took over the position of Secretary in 1979 and remained in that position ever since. Al was always a welcome site around the firehouse or the fire scene with his smile and good sense of humor. He dedicated his life to the fire service and will be truly missed by all.
