One Car into Tree on US Highway 11

On Tuesday, July 11th 2023 at 1042 hours, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to the vicinity of 8006 US Highway 11 for a reported car into a tree. Central Dispatch relayed that the caller is trying to get out of vehicle but can't. West Stockholm Fire Chief 48-1 Torey Russell happened to be going by the scene and stopped to assist. 48-1 contacted Potsdam Fire Station to advise that the driver of the vehicle has exited the vehicle. At 1045 hours, Engine 80 (B. Andrus) responded followed by Rescue 14 (J. Kozak). Potsdam Fire units arrived on scene to find the victim outside of the vehicle. Firefighters set up traffic control and allowed traffic to flow thru US Highway 11.

Potsdam Fire remained on scene until Johnsons Towing removed the vehicle from accident scene. The driver was not transported by Potsdam Rescue. The scene is being investigated by the New York State Police. All Potsdam Fire units were in service at 1322 hours.
