At 0041 hours, on July 21st, 2023, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to 129 Maple Street; KHS Rentals for a reported shed on fire. Engine 49, chauffeured by Career Fire Driver Mark Maroney, responded at the time of alarm and arrived at 0045 hours, confirming a working fire. On scene, Engine 49 laid large diameter hose from the nearest hydrant into the scene. Firefighters stretched two 1 3/4" hose lines off of Engine 49 and began to extinguish the fire. A 2nd alarm for Potsdam Fire was then requested. Assistant Chief Farnsworth requested West Potsdam Fire to scene with manpower. Due to the poor water supply from the hydrant, Engine 80 (J. Keleher) responded and supplied additional water to Engine 49. Tanker 100 (S. Corbett) also responded as additional water supply. The fire was brought under control and West Potsdam Fire was stood down.

The St. Lawrence County Fire Investigation Team was requested to the scene. County Car 2 and County Car 39 responded for investigation. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The shed was not insured by the owner. Potsdam Rescue provided standby at the scene. Potsdam Fire was in service at 0319 hours.
