Flooding on Pine Street

On Tuesday, May 7th 2024, at 0345 hours, Potsdam Fire responded for a flooded road on Pine Street in the Village of Potsdam. Engine 49 Chauffeured by Paid Driver Jerry Robar responded and arrived on scene at 0349 hours. It was found that the roadway in the vicinity of 40 Pine Street was entirely flooded and was not passable. The Department of Public Works had responded at the time as well. Engine 48 (J. Bradish) had responded and started to mitigate the water situation. Engine 48 drafted and began to pump water away, until the Village of Potsdam and Norwood DPW had brought their pumps to the area to pump water. Both DPW pumps worked until the water had descended. It was found that a beaver dam had broken behind Clarkson University which had caused the flooding. Potsdam Fire was in service at 0727 hours. The roadway was not opened up until 1220 hours.
