On Wednesday, August 30th 2023 at 1329 hours, Potsdam Fire, Potsdam Rescue, and County Car 10 were dispatched to a car into an electric pole in the vicinity of 235 River Road. At 1331 hours, Engine 80 (J. Kozak) followed by Rescue 14 (J. Keleher) responded and arrived on scene at 1335 hours. 36-1 arrived on scene shortly before fire apparatus.
On scene, it was found that a Dodge Ram pickup truck had left the roadway and struck a National Grid pole which sheared off. The pole contained primary power lines along with telephone wires. Apparatus and firefighters on scene provided traffic control. The operator of the vehicle was uninjured and was not transported. National Grid responded and replaced the pole. The vehicle was removed by R&R Auto. The scene was investigated by New York State Police. Potsdam Fire was in service at 1445 hours.
