On Monday, July 15th, 2024, Potsdam Fire held their monthly training night. Firefighters focused on using portable pumps to obtain water from the Raquette River at the Boralex Dam off of the River Road. The portable pumps were used to fill a porta tank that firefighters then utilized to practice drafting with Engine 80. Large diameter hose was laid from Engine 80 to Tower 5 to feed its aerial platform master stream with the proper volume of water. Firefighters rotated through various positions, getting training in pump operations, aerial operations, bucket operations, and water supply operations. This type of hands on training aids our personnel in maintaining proficiency in their skills. |
