Garden Place Estates, an apartment complex located at 578 SH 11B in Potsdam, recently made a sizeable contribution toward the purchase of replacement air bags. The air bags, capable of lifting up to 34 tons, are used in technical rescue situations to lift vehicles, industrial machinery and other large objects off of victims to facilitate their rescue. The air bags the department owned had reached the end of their designed life span of 15 years. After learning of the department's need to replace the air bags, Garden Place Estates owner Ron Page decided that he wanted to make a donation to assist the department in purchasing this life saving equipment. The donation of $5,000 toward the $6,500 total cost made the replacement a reality and ensured that the community would not go without the use of air bags once the old ones were removed from service. The Potsdam Fire Department is deeply grateful for the support from Garden Place Estates and Ron Page. It is with support from the businesses and individuals in the community that we are able to continue to provide top notch service to Potsdam and the surrounding areas.
